Some welcome news to most as this is the first time we had an inactive ENSO Outlook for the first time since 2021. The ENSO Outlook is currently at ‘Inactive’, meaning an El Niño or La Niña is not underway in the tropical Pacific Region. There has been substantial cooling over the last fortnight and atmospheric indicators of surface pressure, winds and cloudiness are all within neutral ENSO thresholds. International climate models indicate ENSO is likely to continue to be neutral until at least July 2024.
