The opening of a new high-tech regional distribution centre (RDC) in Western Sydney, marking a
major milestone in the Woolworths’ $1.3 billion supply-chain automation program.
Located adjacent to its national distribution centre, the combined 75,000sqm precinct will handle
more than 5 million cartons per week across a 20,000-product range. The site is strategically
connected to Port Botany, interstate rail, and the M5/M7 motorways to streamline freight flows
and reduce dependence on road transport.
The new RDC uses advanced automation to build aisle-ready pallets tailored to individual store
layouts, enabling faster replenishment and improved on-shelf availability. Woolworths says the
capability will also accelerate the rollout of new products. The automation reduces heavy manual
handling, strengthens supply-chain efficiency, and supports better service for customers and
store teams.
