The berry category recorded a positive week overall, with total berry revenue up 7.1% and
volume up 2.9% compared to the previous week. The uplift reflects steady consumer demand
and increased supply availability, particularly within strawberries and blackberries.
Strawberries are leading the category, with revenue up 18.6% and volume up 6.4% week-on-
week. The increase in volume has been driven by early Victorian supply starting to come
through, marking the beginning of the new season in VIC. Although volumes remain relatively
small until more growers come online (typically from the second week of November) this early
movement is a positive indicator of improving supply and momentum heading into the summer
season.
Blueberries remained relatively steady, with revenue up 2.0% and volume down slightly (-1.2%).
The minor drop in volume reflects the transition between growing regions, as Queensland and
Northern NSW volumes are steady but declining, while South Australian, Western Australian and
Tasmanian supply is starting to build. This natural handover between regions typically leads to a
short period of reduced total supply before stabilising as southern regions come fully online.
Raspberries softened further this week, with revenue down 12.5% and volume down 20.1%,
likely due to tighter supply, poor quality and slower retail movement following recent higher price
points.
In contrast, Blackberries delivered a standout performance, with revenue up 29.7% and volume
jumping 37.6%. The surge highlights a strong increase in availability and improved retail
presence as the season ramps up.
