Blueberries- Similar to last week, volume has dropped slightly this week, but demand remains stable. We have seen price increases for the coming week and will be watching how this affects demand over the back end of the week. Far North QLD has started, albeit with minimal volume, and this will be a very long build into winter. We have seen a small volume of 1111s harvested in the Coffs Coast area, but this will be inconsistent until mid-year.
Strawberries- Volume into retail has dropped slightly week on week. We expect supply to drop further as there have been extreme temperatures in the Yarra Valley, and second-year plants will start to reduce in the region. Night-time temperatures have reduced at the back end of this week, which should start to see some size improvements for summer and 1st-year plants. Retailers continue to focus on quality across all DCs in all states. Good growing conditions continue in southwest WA with moderate days and minimum temps in the low teens. The QLD growing region of Stanthorpe continues with better conditions; however, for the outside growers, there will be some rain around earlier in the week, but much better harvesting conditions at the back end of the week.
Raspberries- Volumes in VIC and Northern NSW continue to increase, and most growers are now harvesting (albeit in small volumes) from the Coffs Coast region. However, at this point, it is not offsetting the drop in volume from Tasmania, with the category declining in volume week on week. Quality continues to be good across the board.
Blackberries- There was only a slight volume jump week on week, and we expect this to increase even further in the short term before settling down in mid-to-late April. Quality across the board for Blackberries seems to be reasonably good.
