Woolworths rolls out Scan&Go to QLD & VIC stores

After the successful trial of digital trolleys in selected NSW stores, Woolworths are rolling the Scan&Go trolley initiative to 25 stores in QLD and VIC. Shoppers select products and then scan them before putting them straight into shopping bags in their trolley. It provides the convenience of handling each item once instead of 2 to 3 times (first time from shelf into trolley, second time from trolley to conveyor belt, and then back into trolley).

Shoppers can track their spending as they shop and the NSW trial found that 70% of Scan&Go customers are repeat customers which speaks to the ease of adoption of the technology and convenience. With the fixed set up cost of the tablets, this technology delivers cost savings of staffing for Woolworths and lower shrinkage (theft) as shoppers need to scan their Everyday rewards card to access the tablets.
