Coles growth in international foods

Coles has seen a trend of customers eating out less due to cost of living pressures, which has fuelled the growth of meals at home and also ‘fake-away’ where customers home cook takeaway options. Coles has responded by increasing the range of imported food and brands to encourage experimentation, and customers are enticed into trying new products out of curiosity and FOMO (fear of missing out). In Australia, 30% of the population (8.2 million out of 26.6 million) are born overseas;  tapping into International foods and nostalgia has been a strategy seen in both major retailers.
